Stop Schumer’s National Defense Authorization Act Disaster

Updated: Dec 10, 2023

If Republicans on the House and Senate Armed Services Committees can’t get American border security funded in preference to more money for Ukraine, let alone keep “drag queen story hour” and drag shows off military bases, you have to ask yourself exactly what good are they.

Even though Republicans hold the majority in the House of Representatives, here we are again, with Congress ready to vote on a last-minute midnight National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Conference Report and it appears Chuck Schumer and his Far Left counterparts in the House were in charge of writing the bill that will govern America’s military for the next fiscal year.

We urge you to use this link and a few mouse clicks to write your representatives in the House and Senate urging them to reject what is called the conference report on the NDAA, H.R. 2670.  For more information on the conference report on H.R. 2670 see: https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/2670.

How bad is it?

Our friend Frank Gaffney, head of the Center for Security Policy and a former Pentagon official has dubbed this outrage the “Not Defending America Act.”

We urge you to use this link and a few mouse clicks to write your representatives in the House and Senate urging them to reject what is called the conference report on the NDAA, H.R. 2670.

As Mr. Gaffney explained, for decades, Congress has considered the annual National Defense Authorization Act to be must-pass legislation. It authorizes pay increases for the troops and the procurement of new weapons and puts into law policy direction for the armed forces.

Historically, this bill – which in official Washington is usually referred to by its acronym, NDAA – has been among the most conservative to garner widespread, if not near-universal, support on both sides of Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, the Fiscal Year 2024 NDAA now being proposed for final passage by the House and Senate might better be described as the “Not Defending America Act.”

Under pressure from what is, effectively, the third Obama-Biden administration, and with the acquiescence of Senate Republicans who fit the description of the “controlled opposition” and a House leadership that is desperate for a legislative accomplishment, the NDAA will further advance the Marxist make-over of the U.S. military.

For example, language approved by the House of Representatives aimed at blocking such a “fundamental transformation” – including Critical Race Theory and other cultural Marxist indoctrination; basing promotions on “diversity” considerations, rather than merit; and radical social and sexual engineering – has largely been deleted. That will also ensure more Biden promotions of flag and general officers who embrace these policies.

Other problems identified by Mr. Gaffney include the removal of a prohibition on the Pentagon funding of abortion-related expenses in accordance with existing law and a very controversial re-authorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which has been abused to spy on American citizens, among other things – is also included without needed amendments.

From our perspective the reauthorization of the current version of FISA is a virtual invitation to the Biden administration and their Deep State allies to declare war on conservatives and the next Republican presidential candidate, especially if it is former President Donald Trump.

As we explained in our recent column “What If The Feds Spy On You Anyway?” if there is one lesson the Russiagate scandal and the FBI’s complete fabrication of the predicate for its “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation of Doanld Trump and associates demonstrated, it is that without vigorous adversarial proceedings the FISA court is just going to rubber stamp applications for collection against Americans, especially if they are unpopular with the Washington establishment.

And now even with the knowledge of the way Democrats abused FISA to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and hobble the incoming Trump administration, Republicans appear to be ready to leave those same tools in the hands of a Democrat administration to abuse them again in the 2024 election.

Congress should not enact a National Defense Authorization Act that is actually a “Not Defending America Act.” The Capitol Switchboard is (202-224-3121), call today and tell your Senators and Representative to vote NO on conference report on the NDAA. Even better, you can use this link and a few mouse clicks to write your representatives in the House and Senate urging them to reject the NDAA, H.R. 2670.
