Pentagon Approves Deployment of National Guard Troops for DC Trucker Convoy Protest


Hundreds of National Guard troops have been deployed in Washington, D.C. to help deal

with trucker convoy protests that are set to start this week. The Department of Defense (DOD) said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved the deployments of the guards, which had been requested by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and U.S. Capitol Police (USCP). Multiple convoys are planning to journey to the Washington DC area.
