Yesterday, the lead article in our friend Stephen Moore’s must-read Committee to Unleash
Prosperity Hotline was titled, “Do These People Lie About Everything? Seriously” and it detailed the lies Democrats have been telling about banning gas stoves:
Schumer mocks GOP: ‘Nobody is taking away your gas stove’
Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) speaks at a press conference on WEE1 Tactical’s marketing of a ‘JR-15’ rifle towards children at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, January 26, 2023.
“At first you have to laugh at the ‘gas stove ban’ narrative being cooked up by the MAGA GOP,” Schumer said in a statement released Friday.
Then Steve pointed out this CNN headline from earlier in the week:
New York becomes the first state to ban natural gas stoves and furnaces in most new buildings
New York is the first state in the country to ban natural gas and other fossil fuels in most new buildings – a major win for climate advocates, but a move that could spark pushback from fossil fuel interests.
Facing mounting pressure from environmental advocates and climate-minded voters, Gov. Kathy Hochul and Democratic lawmakers, who control the New York Senate and Assembly, approved the new $229 billion state budget containing the provision late Tuesday night.
But Schumer has nothing on the Biden White House and its veracity-challenged Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
Ms. Jean-Pierre may have recently set a record for the most substantive lies in the shortest amount of time – and “substantive lies” is an important distinction.
We are happy to stipulate that former President Donald Trump never met a superlative that could not be applied to himself or his property empire. When Trump says he’s the greatest or some property of his is the “most iconic” or a rally had the biggest crowd ever everyone knows he is full of hot air about stuff like that and that he’s BSing.
When Ms. Jean-Pierre goes before the cameras in the White House’s James S. Brady Press Briefing Room the media and the American people expect something remotely resembling the truth about what’s going on in their government.
But the truth rarely has a friend when Ms. Jean-Pierre is on the stage.
Yesterday, she was blasted for being blatantly dishonest about the administration's prioritization of reopening of schools after the pandemic after saying, "This is why, when the president walked in, he made a priority to open schools, one of the things that was important to do to make sure that our kids, who have lost so much, were able to go back in-person school if they choose, have the resources that they needed to really succeed and move forward in their education."
You can see our friend Rick Manning, President of Americans for Limited Government, dismember her for that lie here:
However, Jean-Pierre’s comments about the border on Monday were even bigger lies than her revisionist history on Biden’s record on getting schools reopened.
Ms. Jean-Pierre’s statement, “When it comes to illegal migration, you’ve seen it come down by more than 90%” under President Biden,” prompted the Editors of the New York Post to observe:
The “fact” behind that bull was a brief drop in migrants from a few select nations; the overall claim is an utter inversion of reality.
The truth about illegal border crossing under President Biden is that Fiscal Year 2022 ended with close to 2.38 million migrant encounters, the highest ever, topping Biden’s massive first fiscal-year record-setter of almost 1.96 million.
And the 2022 record will fall easily: The figures for fiscal 2023 through March are already at 1.54 million. you have to add the million or so “gotaways,” migrants spotted but not stopped by Customs and Border Protection agents — who all make it in.
Plus, an unknown number who never get spotted at all by a totally swamped Customs and Border Patrol.
But there’s more. Just a week earlier Jean-Pierre made what the Washington Examiner characterized as this “preposterous” statement: "It’s clear that the Speaker’s bill breaks House Republicans’ commitment to America. In the run-up to the 2022 elections, House Republicans promised to put cops on the beat," Jean-Pierre said. "Instead, they’re fighting to put fentanyl on the street by defunding Border Patrol. Their proposal makes clear that only things House Republicans are committed to giving to Americans are increased crime, lower economic growth, and more manufacturing jobs sent back to China."
There can be an honest debate and difference of opinion between Congress and the President about how much money the federal government should collect, borrow, and spend, but Republicans aren’t in charge of the Executive Branch of government where the Constitution places federal law enforcement responsibilities, and every honest, legitimate set of statistics show crime has increased dramatically on Joe Biden’s watch.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and her cohorts in the Biden administration have routinely stated their dedication to stopping the spread of disinformation. Yet any legitimate, objective analysis of what Jean-Pierre says on a routine basis will show that she willfully engages in the very thing she claims to detest — spreading lies, observed Christopher Tremoglie in a commentary for the Washington Examiner.
