DeSantis Breaks Democrats With Martha’s Vineyard Flight And Promise Of More

Florida’s MAGA conservative Governor Ron DeSantis may have just broken the Left by sending a planeload of illegal aliens to the Far Left millionaire’s enclave and “sanctuary jurisdiction” of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, from which the howls of liberal outrage

over their arrival could be heard all the way back to Florida.

Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) have been trying desperately to find a way to turn DeSantis giving what both the illegal aliens and those granting them “sanctuary” what they wanted – transportation to a safe new home in the United States – into a political negative for the Governor’s reelection prospects.

The Left-leaning Orlando Sentinel called DeSantis’ relocation flight “indecent,” and a large swath of the Democrat media complex joined in with similar charges.

Democrat Bexar County, Texas, Sheriff Javier Salazar, even told reporters at a Monday news conference that he was launching an investigation into DeSantis’s actions on the theory that it was some kind of “human trafficking” crime. Bexar County is San Antonio, easily Texas’ most liberal and Democrat-dominated county. San Antonio is where the city council has allowed homeless drug users to camp on the streets and city parks in imitation of San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and other West Coast garden spots, so you can see the underlying principles upon which Sheriff Salazar is operating.

In an interview with Fox News on Monday night, DeSantis said the migrants were not misled.

“They all signed consent forms to go and then the vendor that is doing this for Florida provided them with a packet that had a map of Martha’s Vineyard, it has the number for different services that are on Martha’s Vineyard,” DeSantis said.

“Why wouldn’t they want to go, given where they were? They were in really, really bad shape and they got to be cleaned up, everything, treated well,” he added.

When asked earlier about the investigation, DeSantis spokesperson Taryn Fenske gave CNN the following statement: “Immigrants have been more than willing to leave Bexar County after being abandoned, homeless, and ‘left to fend for themselves.’

“Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected. Unless the MA national guard has abandoned these individuals, they have been provided accommodations, sustenance, clothing and more options to succeed following their unfair enticement into the United States, unlike the 53 immigrants who died in a truck found abandoned in Bexar County this June,” reported CNN.

For his part Governor DeSantis is offering no apologies.

In remarks reported by Lexi Lonas of The Hill, Gov. DeSantis said during a press conference Friday that the transport of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., is “just the beginning” of efforts to relocate those crossing the border.

“Now we see, in New York and D.C., they used to beat their chests when Trump was in office, saying they are sanctuary jurisdictions. Then the minute Texas starts busing there, they get very bent out of shape about it,” DeSantis said. “These are just the beginning efforts. We got an infrastructure in place now. There is going to be a lot more that’s happening.”

DeSantis said these efforts are helping “put this issue on the front burner,” adding that Florida is using $12 million the state budget allocated to a program to transport migrants out of the state.

Ms. Lonas reported the governor claimed most of the migrants, who were in Texas prior to the journey to Martha’s Vineyard, were trying to get to Florida. Florida itself is home to a large illegal alien population of as many as 800,000 who have stressed some schools and hospitals to the breaking point.

“So they’ve been in Texas, identifying people that are trying to come to Florida, and then offering them free transportation to sanctuary jurisdictions,” DeSantis said, adding there will be more buses and flights for migrants in the future.

DeSantis also addressed allegations that the migrants were lied to about where they were going, saying they all signed forms and were given packets with maps of Massachusetts.

From our perspective DeSantis’ actions and timing have been impeccable.

This week it was announced that in the first year and a half of President Joe Biden ’s tenure, Border Patrol agents project over 2 million illegal aliens will be arrested at the southern border, more people who came cross the border unlawfully than in President Barack Obama's entire two terms — an indication of the magnitude of the disaster Biden has created.

Federal agents have made 150,000 to 200,000 arrests each month over the past 18 months, mostly on the U.S.-Mexico border. Ten months into the government's 2022 fiscal year, the Border Patrol has apprehended 1,822,620 people — blowing past the 2021 record of 1,662,167.

Pressed about the unprecedented numbers, on pace to hit a record-breaking 2 million apprehensions this year alone, the Washington Examiner reported Vice President Kamala Harris maintained in an interview earlier this month that "the border is secure."

Governor DeSantis is doing the right thing to keep the pressure on Democrats, because the only thing that is going to stop this invasion is a Democrat defeat in the 2022 midterms and a Republican in the White House after the 2024 presidential election.
