We’ve had enough of the Left’s smears of Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife Ginni. If you feel as we do that it is time to let Democrat Senators know they’ve gone too far for too long, please join our conservative friends at Tea Party Patriots Action in their campaign to contact Senators to defend Justice Thomas.
The statement in defense of Justice Thomas follows and you can let Senators know you stand in defense of Clarence Thomas with just a few mouse clicks through this link.
For more than thirty years now, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has stood in the breach, fighting the liberal assaults on every front, holding firm as a bulwark who stands for God, the United States of America, and the Constitution.
His refusal to bow to the liberals is one of the reasons we still have a functioning republic tethered to the Constitution.
Born in grinding poverty in the Chatham County town of Pin Point, Georgia, Justice Thomas was raised by his grandparents. He worked his way through college, graduating from the College of Holy Cross in 1974 and then earning a law degree from Yale Law School.
His own personal experience – finding a way to overcome the government-approved discrimination he faced as a young man in the South at that time – instilled in him a belief in the need for equality under the law, and an impassioned opposition to affirmative action.

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan appointed him to serve as Assistant Secretary of Education for Civil Rights. The following year, Reagan appointed him to serve as Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He held that position into the next presidential administration, when President George H.W. Bush appointed him to serve as a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
One year later, following the death of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, President Bush nominated Thomas to serve as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and fill the vacancy left by Marshall’s passing.
The left went crazy. After the radical left’s political destruction of Judge Robert Bork four years earlier, liberal Democrat senators – led by then-Judiciary Committee Chairman Joe Biden, ably assisted by Ted Kennedy, Howard Metzenbaum, Patrick Leahy, and Herb Kohl – decided to try to destroy Thomas the same way, by smearing him in his confirmation hearings.
It was an ugly scene. Thomas himself, facing his liberal inquisitors, referred to it as a “high-tech lynching” and vowed not to back down.
He was confirmed by a vote of 52-48 in one of the most brutal confirmation fights the Senate has ever seen, a fight that left scars on the Court that have yet to heal.
And ever since, Clarence Thomas has been standing for constitutional government, fighting to defend and promote core constitutional principles as the Founders meant them to be understood. On issue after issue, Justice Thomas has worked diligently to see to it that the Founders’ vision guides today’s jurisprudence.
His refusal to cower before the assault of the left galls them. It goads them. It provokes them to more and more intense fits of rage.

They have attacked his wife. They have attacked his friends. Now they attack him for enjoying the hospitality of his friends, even though they know he has – as a man of integrity – strictly abided by all the ethical guidelines required of him as an associate justice of the Supreme Court.
For more than three decades, Justice Clarence Thomas has had our back. Now it’s time we had his.
Please contact your two U.S. Senators today and tell them you support Clarence Thomas. Tell them you believe he is a good man who has been wrongly targeted for his political beliefs. Tell them Justice Clarence Thomas has been fighting liberal assaults on the Constitution for more than three decades, and he deserves our strong support. Click here to defend Justice Clarence Thomas.
